Clubs and Activities

Chorus is available to students in 4th and 5th grade. The chorus meets in the fall and in the spring. This extracurricular activity practices before school in preparation for a performance that will be given at a PTA meeting towards the end of each semester. Students will have fun learning musical concepts and singing with their peers. Information about the chorus is given to students by the music teacher at the beginning of each semester.

Lego Robotics Team is a competitive team of 4th and 5th graders. Students work together to offer a solution to a real-world problem, build a Lego EV3 robot, and complete one or more Lego Robotics missions.  Applications are available in the spring for the following school year.

PE Club is offered to 3rd-5th grade students. Each grade level meets one day per week from
7:20-8:20 a.m. for six weeks. Due to the limited slots and the popularity of the class, students will submit an application and participants will be chosen by using a lottery system. Parents will need to provide transportation to school. Supervision will not be available for brothers, sisters, or friends who usually arrive together. There is a $45 fee for the class. Students focus on skills and team sports, like basketball, indoor soccer, and hockey.

Student Council is offered to 3rd-5th grade students. Four officers (5th grade only) and two representatives per homeroom (3-5) are selected by their peers through an election process in the fall. After initiation in September, officers and class representatives meet once a month from 7:45-8:20 am. Students work on a variety of projects to benefit FMES and the surrounding community, including canned food drives, the school store, and various fundraisers to support learning. Student Council members represent the school and encourage others to respect themselves, respect others, and respect the mill. Since this club is formed through the democratic process, once elections have taken place, no new members are added until the next school year. 

Purpose: To provide leadership opportunities for students, provide the student body with a model of the democratic process, provide the student body with a forum for student ideas, concerns and/or needs, provide an organizational body for students to be involved in school and community service projects, and to sponsor projects that encourage school spirit and academic success.
